The Waiting...

My wife, right now, is 39 weeks and 6 days pregnant. My first son was born 2 weeks early, and to be honest, we've been expecting the arrival of #2 since about 37 weeks. However, an early arrival seems not to have come to pass. This has produced substantial extraneous stress on both our parts, as we are kind of in this holding pattern where we don't feel like we can DO anything until the baby is born.
We've been told, that although there is a lot of suggestions of ways that you can bring on labour, ultimately they don't know what starts it off. So there's nothing we can do that is going to give us any confidence that this child is any closer to being born.
So we wait... We'll keep you all informed.

Actually, there is one very well known method for bringing on labour (1), (2).

I'll give you a clue: Blogging isn't it.

Personally, I don't care if it's an urban myth or not. The question really is, "What on earth are you still doing in front of the computer?"

Get to it, tiger...

We have tried it all. And are continuing to try it all. Aside from the "taking Castor Oil" one that seems to be generally regarded as effective but dangerous. We have tried spicy food, pineapple, rasberry leaf, walking, accupresure, massage, and a few more I'm sure Rachel would prefer I didn't mention. However, the one you're implying is definately included in the on-going program.

So what am I doing in front of the computer? Working. Because there's no baby yet. And my poor wife is really sick with the flu and having a sleep. Because all the above-mentioned (and unmentioned) methods can help bring on the birth, none of them actually make it happen. This baby could well stay tucked up in it's current locale until 42 weeks, despite our best efforts to bring about labour.
